Read the report context
Check the business, location, period and currency context before interpreting a total. Quantity and value are different measures. A report can contain useful quantities while lacking enough acquisition-cost information to value every movement.
Understand completeness
Valued, partial and unvalued results describe how much of the relevant activity has usable cost information. Unknown cost is not zero cost. Do not present a partial total as the full cost of a recipe, batch or period without identifying the gap.
Trace the missing inputs
Follow the affected item, receipt or movement to check quantities, acquisition values and currency. Look for stock introduced without a usable cost basis or a conversion that prevents the expected calculation. Correct the source through its supported workflow rather than editing a displayed report total.
Use the result appropriately
Re-run or revisit the report after corrections and confirm whether completeness changed. These operational cost reports do not replace payroll, tax, general-ledger accounting or foreign-exchange calculations. Ask for help with the report reference and affected items if the missing value cannot be explained.
