Set up your business email

Distinguish a mailbox from forwarding and check both sending and receiving.

Updated

Choose what you need

A mailbox stores messages and provides a way to sign in and send mail. A forwarding address passes messages elsewhere and may not provide a separate sending identity. Decide which people need individual mailboxes and which addresses are shared business contacts.

Confirm domain and terms

Check who manages the domain's mail records and which service will host email. Review mailbox costs and limits separately from website hosting. Keep a record of the public addresses you plan to use before changing the existing service.

Configure through the provider

Use the provider's instructions for account access and DNS verification. Keep passwords and recovery information private. Do not overwrite working mail records with website records or assume moving the website automatically moves old email messages.

Test the result

Send a message from an external address to the business address and reply from the intended mailbox. Check spam folders and the visible sender identity. If receiving works but sending does not, investigate those paths separately and provide support with delivery errors rather than account credentials.
