Review and install a software update

Check responsibility, readiness and recovery before changing a working system.

Updated

Identify who manages updates

Confirm whether your team, your hosting provider or Chyve manages the installation. Do not start a parallel update while another operator is working. Record the currently installed version and the proposed release.

Review the change

Read the release information and any compatibility or preparation requirements. Check the status of extensions and integrations the business depends on. Reading a release note does not install the update, and a download alone does not change the running site.

Prepare recovery

Confirm a suitable backup and a known restoration route before consequential changes. Plan a quiet period and tell the people responsible for orders or website work. Where an update requires explicit approval, review the actual change before approving it.

Verify afterwards

Check the installed version and the key workflows affected: sign-in, customer pages and relevant operations. If an update fails or a workflow breaks, avoid repeated installations and contact the responsible operator with the version and error. Restore only through an agreed recovery process.
